How to play Word Recall

Choose a round of Word Recall and settle into its rules. Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. Use the example below to understand a decision. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Included vocabulary and random repeats; a game, not a medical memory assessment.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Read each displayed word.
  2. Choose New word or Seen before.
  3. Remember words from this round only.
  4. Three mistakes end the round.

Controls

Click or tap one of the two answer buttons. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

A useful example

PLANT seen earlier in the same round requires Seen before. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

A word from an earlier round does not count as seen now. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
