How to play Bowling

Bowling gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Complete ten frames and maximise the score. Look at what changes after your first action. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play ten frames using a two-dimensional bowling lane. Strikes, spares and bonus rolls count towards the total.

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Complete ten frames and maximise the score. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

1. Set lane position and power.
2. Roll into the rack.
3. A strike ends a normal frame; otherwise roll again.
4. The tenth can earn bonus rolls.

Controls

Lane-position/power sliders and Roll ball. Use the control method described here for this activity. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

A strike followed by rolls of 4 and 5 makes the strike frame worth 19. An ordinary frame of 4 and 5 is worth 9. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

Bonus-dependent frames may not yet have a confirmed total. Compare the situation with the worked example. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
